Walking down the hall, she walks behind and into the room where they close the door and face each other. Lean back against the desk, one fist between the edge and the small of the back. Solid steel shelves, functional and over specialized like something you'd drop off a boat to make it stop moving between the indulgence of sun and sifting sand. Second hand easy on the hip, the wrist against belly. She is wearing cute little peach toned shoes that show her arch. They make a nice tapping noise as she steps, in contrast to the thick soles in the other set.

There is a monitor at her elbow on the table, pushed forward and tipped down as though it might fall. The cable for a cam pod curls down alongside one leg, where an open case sits split open on the floor. Matte black steel to the left and exposed inner metal. A screwdriver there by the tougher heel. A peach toe tip taps in the direction of the screen through which a black cat is stretching on the side of a pool of light.

That's DF. He was talking me through taking this thing apart. Toe tap back.
You can work like that?
Right.... Get the cam up into his face, it's very entertaining.
Far away from here.
Work. Looking at her, chin raising slowly, smile shaping as though being manually pulley-ed one edge at a time. Sweep the curtain from the open window, showing the street below for a moment, and drop that in front of the screen.

Med school text book goes down on the table top and they look at it as though it might change color. Hippocratic image, steel and scales, on the table.
Classes started yesterday.
And now you sleep wearing two drops of Latin vocab?
Just two? That shouldn't be too difficult. I don't know what to expect yet. Shaking her head so the tied portion falls over her shoulder.
40 mg Well in the morning! 2 cups of tea and usually a tiny bit of coffee. There's the sound of a door opening and closing loudly and they both freeze.
Didn't I lock that? Excuse me.

As the door closes again, the braid leans toward the monitor and pushes the curtain aside in sync with the cat lazily clawing the cam. Suddenly showing the surface of the shelf it was sitting on instead of the empty room, one leg of some animal figurine, and she drops the curtain back quickly.
